summertime and the livin's easy

oh what do i do in the summertime when all my time is free? the following...all are little things that will pale in comparison with what is to come in 5 days (PARIS and LONDON) so, i thought i should blog about them now.

floral design class (my "T" shape arrangement)

jordan's birthday present...a triptych i am still working on

bow stuff (one of my favorite flowers we made)

decided to make thank-you cards, they are made out of some vintage flour cloths i found at, lucketts, my mecca

gave merry a monogrammed manicure (after i told her i couldn't paint birds and butterflies she suggested her name)...she loved it so much she called me the other day and our conversation was the following
merry: "koobs, i am calling because well, i don't know how to tell you this, i don't want to offended you......but............?
me: "it is ok mer, you can tell me, what's up?"
merry: "well, my nail polish is coming off, and so i think i have to take it off, i am so sorry"
me: "mer, its ok, really, i don't mind we can give you another one later."
merry: "no, but really really i am so sorry"
(this went on for a while)
merry: "so, ok i will take it off, but do you think khaki madison, my stage name will fit for next time?"
me: "uh i think it is too long but maybe we can try it..."
merry: "yeah yeah, i just thought it would be a good idea, so yeah yeah, just think about it, and i will talk to you tomorrow."

not pictured: mostly i just watch valentine dance to justin bieber, its the best (but everytime i try to record it i am thwarted by distracting balloons, computer mice, baby dolls and sometimes the camera shimself).

btw: when i typed this blog's title sublime was stuck in my head, not ella fitzgerald which i think changes the mood of the post, ijs.

otra boda..

here are some pictures from a small reception i did...sadly it was a pre-reception and the couple ended up not getting married...the flowers were still pretty though.

on a separate note...
get ready (for anyone who still checks my seldom updated blog) for an awesome blog about all the funny things from kindergarten, i am trying to compile a list of awesome sayings....it should be pretty great.

facebook to the rescue

so. back in january i did some flowers for a wedding (with lots of help from mom, madie and page) being the first time i really did this, i was sad when i forgot to do something kind of important--TAKE PICTURES. I have always been pretty bad at capturing my life with the camera, and have, also, always lamented this vice. Modern day trends, however, have come to my rescue and facebook has provided me with a second chance at a flower portfolio, and (drum roll please) i now present some long awaited pictures...

note: sorry they aren't the best quality...i promise next time to document better my work.

death by asphyxiation and i-phone misplacement

as children we would always ask my mom, "do you know where {insert toy of choice, or if you were me, current biography of an artist} is?" her reply was usually, "i don't know, where did you leave it?" she was always right, we just didn't always remember where we left our stuff.
one would assume, and rightly so, that as we have gotten older we would be more adept at finding our things, but as of late we have started searching aimlessly for our books, shoes, cell phones, or what have you again. we have returned to asking our mom, "do you know where, {insert toy of choice, i-phone for me} is?" her new reply is "i don't know, have you checked the refrigerator?" she, now, is usually right, we just don't usually remember that valentine has a love for placing any and all items in the little baby-v sized fridge in the kitchen's island. today when i looked over she was even trying to fit inside it herself, i laughed of course but am grateful she can't actually fit inside and instead opted to asphyxiate her baby doll and am grateful that there is a glass door so that as i walked by i could see the baby doll laying there with (for those of you concerned that valentine has err creepy-ish tendencies by freezing baby dolls) her pacifier and water bottle for comfort.

"dominic get down from there"

my fair baby is up...well the website is up anyway, we have yet to post all of our products and a shopping cart but that is soon to come....click on our button to see the cute website.

on other news, i love my job. kindergarten is seriously the best. in my class there are four kids with special needs and the afternoon when they are all ours is the best time of day. for instance while counting with caroline i say, "caroline can you color in the number you just counted?" her reply was, "you bet babe." something about that line coming from the smallest 5 year old ever is so endearing. or shun. our little autistic japanese boy who is perhaps the craziest, wiggleyist, all over the place kid. his parents told us they were going on vacation...to the grand canyon. of all the places in the world i would never take him, that and niagra falls are tied for number one. we are all joking that we hope his parents are using a baby sling to prevent tragedy (but seriously i hope they are)...today in class jake asked me where shun was and i said, "he and his family went to the grand canyon." jake perked up and exclaimed, "that's my FAVORITE canyon" tiff and i laughed for a good fifteen minutes wondering what other canyons he had been to... it was awesome. and sums up my awesome job.
also, at work i sometimes want to quote kindergarten cop...

r and r

yesterday page said, "you never update your blog." i said, "um, you still check it?" when the answer was an adamant yes, i decided to come out of my blog hibernation, also, i am bored. being that i am bored, this might end up being a boring post. but, i have been thinking about something lately and will now divulge it, to...well, page-since she may be the only one still checking to see updates.
the other day at work, my fellow pca (we can call him brian), was smoking outside while i was working my guts out trying to get the girls to behave and clean and cook all at the same time. i looked at him with utter jealousy. each long drag i imagined myself sitting there, not smoking, but sweetly breathing in the fresh air, thinking of nothing at all (except for maybe a hope of getting a teensy bit of color). normally when i see someone smoking my thoughts immediately lament the shortened life of the individual, but now when brian says for the fourth time of the day, "i am taking a smoking break," i watch him with green anxious eyes, contriving ways to get the same- well- similar break.
i think i am going to pitch, "me time" and say that i am addicted to myself, and that i just really need to clear my mind. i think it might work, if i maybe show my high school notes that are full of annotations that say "i love me" and "i am sooooo awesome" they would see my illness and let me sit outside for five minutes by myself. wow, that sounds so lovely, i think i am definitely going to say it tomorrow. if the mom can say, "leave the house, i need r and r and a nap away from my daughters," then i can say "i am taking a five minute me break."

page- i promise my next blog will be much better

(disclaimer: i really am not so self involved, i did write things like that in my notebooks, but, i am awesome, i mean, i am joking. i just would like equality-brian gets five minutes for smoking and i get five minutes for me or maybe for jane austen...either one, hmmm, i could perhaps claim an addiction to reading(my fingers actually tapped my chin as i re-read that)).
