facebook to the rescue

so. back in january i did some flowers for a wedding (with lots of help from mom, madie and page) being the first time i really did this, i was sad when i forgot to do something kind of important--TAKE PICTURES. I have always been pretty bad at capturing my life with the camera, and have, also, always lamented this vice. Modern day trends, however, have come to my rescue and facebook has provided me with a second chance at a flower portfolio, and (drum roll please) i now present some long awaited pictures...

note: sorry they aren't the best quality...i promise next time to document better my work.

death by asphyxiation and i-phone misplacement

as children we would always ask my mom, "do you know where {insert toy of choice, or if you were me, current biography of an artist} is?" her reply was usually, "i don't know, where did you leave it?" she was always right, we just didn't always remember where we left our stuff.
one would assume, and rightly so, that as we have gotten older we would be more adept at finding our things, but as of late we have started searching aimlessly for our books, shoes, cell phones, or what have you again. we have returned to asking our mom, "do you know where, {insert toy of choice, i-phone for me} is?" her new reply is "i don't know, have you checked the refrigerator?" she, now, is usually right, we just don't usually remember that valentine has a love for placing any and all items in the little baby-v sized fridge in the kitchen's island. today when i looked over she was even trying to fit inside it herself, i laughed of course but am grateful she can't actually fit inside and instead opted to asphyxiate her baby doll and am grateful that there is a glass door so that as i walked by i could see the baby doll laying there with (for those of you concerned that valentine has err creepy-ish tendencies by freezing baby dolls) her pacifier and water bottle for comfort.

"dominic get down from there"

my fair baby is up...well the website is up anyway, we have yet to post all of our products and a shopping cart but that is soon to come....click on our button to see the cute website.

on other news, i love my job. kindergarten is seriously the best. in my class there are four kids with special needs and the afternoon when they are all ours is the best time of day. for instance while counting with caroline i say, "caroline can you color in the number you just counted?" her reply was, "you bet babe." something about that line coming from the smallest 5 year old ever is so endearing. or shun. our little autistic japanese boy who is perhaps the craziest, wiggleyist, all over the place kid. his parents told us they were going on vacation...to the grand canyon. of all the places in the world i would never take him, that and niagra falls are tied for number one. we are all joking that we hope his parents are using a baby sling to prevent tragedy (but seriously i hope they are)...today in class jake asked me where shun was and i said, "he and his family went to the grand canyon." jake perked up and exclaimed, "that's my FAVORITE canyon" tiff and i laughed for a good fifteen minutes wondering what other canyons he had been to... it was awesome. and sums up my awesome job.
also, at work i sometimes want to quote kindergarten cop...

r and r

yesterday page said, "you never update your blog." i said, "um, you still check it?" when the answer was an adamant yes, i decided to come out of my blog hibernation, also, i am bored. being that i am bored, this might end up being a boring post. but, i have been thinking about something lately and will now divulge it, to...well, page-since she may be the only one still checking to see updates.
the other day at work, my fellow pca (we can call him brian), was smoking outside while i was working my guts out trying to get the girls to behave and clean and cook all at the same time. i looked at him with utter jealousy. each long drag i imagined myself sitting there, not smoking, but sweetly breathing in the fresh air, thinking of nothing at all (except for maybe a hope of getting a teensy bit of color). normally when i see someone smoking my thoughts immediately lament the shortened life of the individual, but now when brian says for the fourth time of the day, "i am taking a smoking break," i watch him with green anxious eyes, contriving ways to get the same- well- similar break.
i think i am going to pitch, "me time" and say that i am addicted to myself, and that i just really need to clear my mind. i think it might work, if i maybe show my high school notes that are full of annotations that say "i love me" and "i am sooooo awesome" they would see my illness and let me sit outside for five minutes by myself. wow, that sounds so lovely, i think i am definitely going to say it tomorrow. if the mom can say, "leave the house, i need r and r and a nap away from my daughters," then i can say "i am taking a five minute me break."

page- i promise my next blog will be much better

(disclaimer: i really am not so self involved, i did write things like that in my notebooks, but, i am awesome, i mean, i am joking. i just would like equality-brian gets five minutes for smoking and i get five minutes for me or maybe for jane austen...either one, hmmm, i could perhaps claim an addiction to reading(my fingers actually tapped my chin as i re-read that)).

stranger things have happened...

this week i have been sick...my family is probably rolling their eyes at that statement, whispering slash muttering something along the lines of "what else is new", "like always", or "kirby should leave idaho" (that last one is something i am very highly considering)....back to the subject, since being sick i have been BORED, i mean i read and blog stalk and facebook refresh every couple of hours and last night i even....brace yourselves...looked up baby names for three hours even though that is eons away or perhaps never. i can't really leave the house because i cough too much and it is freezing cold in rexburg. despite the fact that i was hacking up my lungs (or my upper bronchials as my doctor corrected me) i tried going to work twice this week and they sent me home both times...
i found that i actually missed my work schedule which goes a like a this:
-arrive: greet jl, take off her coat and say hi to the other clients (one calls me and everyone else grandpa, i love my job)
-have a dance party with jl (unless everyone else is in our room: there are a very very select few people who i dazzle with my dance skills). our mutual favorite dance song is single ladies by beyonce, she laughs the whole time, and there isn't one profanity in the whole song, this is what i call improvement...
-play with blocks on the floor: i build towers, jl destroys them, i pretend to cry, she dies of laughter, i pretend to put her in time out, she throws a block at me (i have bruises, and as a result have fashioned a clever shield out of a pillow), she dies of laughter, and so the cycle continues
(the before lunchtime cycle is sometimes "community time", which in rexburg means walking around wal-mart, i am so glad i can make my own fun and that jl accepts my quirkiness and boredom as good material to cackle at)
-lunch time and changing time are what follows, i miss these times like i miss pneumonia...not at all....because of lunchtime i will never again eat a corn dog, which i guess isn't such a big loss, and i have become ocd-i wash my hands so often my knuckles are cracking a little
-jl sleeps and i doodle
a random page of doodles i found
i am usually uninspired at work, so it all looks kind of lame like this one

-jl goes home/i get a new client: i get to work with a kid, or a downs girl who reminds me of merry. she says "one" with her finger up, waters her face and exclaims "oh yeah rigght" all the time, loves gummi worms/bears, and gives good hugs (not nearly as good as merry's)-they would be bffs i think. today one little girl and i danced to hannah montana and high school musical while i waited for my client to be out of therapy, she is so cute, it was so much fun, i think i will miss it when i come home.

v-day = feeling sentimental but not about boys....

one day in the dominican republic while sitting on what felt more like a roller coaster than a guagua (bus) i said to hermana delgado, "guaguas and the stench that is the d.r. are two things i will definitely not miss." i was wrong. last night i was trying to imagine the smell and i couldn't, despite my greatest efforts the smell wouldn't return--i would give almost anything to have it back. i think at the time i thought i was so right: sweat, dead pig and pollution create a mixture that stings the eye, and dominican buses can be better compared with a can of sardines than american transit...i had legitimately had enough. today, however, they are both glorious and sadly far away and i take back what i said.
i hate it when i am wrong (it doesn't happen very often, por suerte).
i think we should plan a trip to the best island ever...

most people would think that this guagua was full, but i guarantee that it collected at least 10 more people before anyone else got off (i want to go for a ride)
